River rocks are smooth rocks Ideal for landscaping and dry creek beds. Some homeowners have replaced mulch in some flower beds with small to medium river rocks.
We have several types of washed sand, including course Concrete Sand and finer Mortar Sand.
We also carry Home Run(C) baseball field inlay.
Our crushed rock comes in many sizes and materials. Limestone, sandstone, and granite are just a few crushed rocks we offer.
Crushed Rock is excellent for driveways and drainage areas.
We offer Select Fill Dirt
and Top Soil Sand.
Select Fill Dirt is sandy red clay for fill areas and house pads.
Top Soil Sand is a nutrient dense product good for grass and mixing with garden soils for raised beds.
Driveway materials include beautiful crushed gravels, or less expensive recycled asphalt and different types of road base.
Decomposed Granite is also a beautiful choice for a driveway, as it packs tightly, however; the granite fines may stick to the bottom of shoes and can possibly scratch wood floors.
Generally, 1 cubic yard covers 100 square feet, 3 inches deep. That's about the size of a washing machine. Give us a call and we will gladly help you figure the amount of material you may need.
One Cubic Yard is a cube approximately 3 feet wide, 3 feet deep and 3 feet tall. Our bucket on our loader is one cubic yard level full.
A Metric Ton is a weight measurement of 2000 pounds. Material sold this way will be weighed on a scale
One Cubic Yard of Rock weighs more than one ton, so when calling for prices, make sure they are quoting for the amount you think you are getting.
One Cubic Yard of Crushed Sandstone can cost $75.
One ton of Crushed Sandstone will only cost $60, but you will get less material.
Generally, a half ton pick can carry a half of a yard of material. A tow behind trailer can generally carry one Cubic Yard per axle. For example, a sturdy single axle trailer can carry one cubic yard of material. A double axle trailer can generally carry two Cubic Yards of material. Sometimes local rental companies will have Dump Trailers to rent, but you must always consider how much material you can carry that will still allow the trailer bed to raise so that you can dump the material. Just because the trailer can carry the material, doesn't mean it can lift it to dump it out.

Our smallest dump trucks can bring up to 8 cubic yards.
Our larger tandem axle dump trucks can bring up to 12 yards.
We also have 18 wheeler end dump semi's available for larger commercial jobs.

Above ground pools need about a 2" base of cushion sand. A 12' round pool will need about 1 cubic yard of sand and an 18' round pool will need about 2 cubic yards. The ground should be level. The sand is used to cushion the pool, not for leveling purposes. It is always best to dig out to level your ground rather than add material.
Simply, a French Drain is a trench with a perforated pipe under gravel used to redirect water. It is very important to get the metrics correct for proper drainage and flow. Be sure to consult with an expert before making any decisions on your drainage needs. We have several different drain materials for all needs.

Geographically, our soil and rock is different than many places even across the state, and the country. North Texas has lots of Limestone and South Texas may have Granite. Here in East Texas we have sandy top soils and iron. This can make some landscaping plans difficult. At J&S, we go pick up the non-native rock that most requested by customers.
